WELCOME
The past few weeks have been a difficult time for East Suffolk, following the devastating wildfire at Dunwich. Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and with the people and organisations who have been working tirelessly to respond and begin the long process of recovery.
As a local funder, we are doing what we can to support that work, while recognising the expertise, commitment and leadership that already exists within our local communities and conservation organisations.
Alongside this, our grants scheme remains open, with Expressions of Interest welcomed throughout the year. If you have an idea for a project that could help nature and people in East Suffolk, we’d encourage you to get in touch with us before applying. We’re always happy to have an initial conversation about your plans and whether East Suffolk Trust might be able to help.

OUR FIRST GRANTS
Following our announcement of our first grant awards, we received some coverage in the local press. See below for some links:
DUNWICH HEATH WILDFIRE RECOVERY FUNDING
Following the devastating fires that destroyed so much of the beautiful landscape around Dunwich, East Suffolk Trust has contributed £200,000 towards recovery work.
The funding will be shared between National Trust and RSPB as match funding to support the planning and early action needed to begin restoring this important habitat. You can also support the RSPB and National Trust appeals directly.
GRANTS DATA PUBLISHED
As part of our commitment to open and transparent grant-giving, we are publishing our grants data on 360Giving.
This is a national data standard that allows grant data to be collated across funders in the UK, via a platform called GrantNav. You can see our grants data via this link, which will be updated as we add more commitments.
STRATEGIC FUNDING CONSULTATION
Huge thanks to everyone who participated in our consultation, sharing experience and ideas to help shape how East Suffolk Trust funds nature recovery. Your input has been really valuable.
We are now considering options that build on the ideas that emerged and respond to the challenges that were identified. We will be back in touch with more details in early 2027.
